AAA SCIENTIFIC MEETING / BGS POPS CONFERENCE, LONDON - 17th & 18th May 2018

The Age Anaesthesia Association would like to thank all of the delegates, speakers and exhibitors who attended the the annual AAA conference at Friends House, London on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th May 2018. This year's meeting was a joint venture with the Proactive care of Older People undergoing Surgery (POPS) Specialist interest group at the British Geriatrics Society. The meeting brought together different specialities and disciplines involved in the care of older surgical patients to facilitate cross boundary education and training and help to improve quality of care for this complex group of patients.

The programme included sessions on perioperative medicine in the evolving healthcare landscape, assessment and optimisation of organ specific pathologies and perioperative management of geriatric syndromes. The programme also featured sessions specific to emergency general surgery and hip fracture as well as a debate on the perioperative dilemmas raised by frailty.

We hope all who attended the meeting had the opportunity to learn and to share their experiences in looking after older people undergoing surgery.  Once again, thank you for attending the meeting and we look forward to welcoming you to the 2019 ASM which will take place at Belton Woods in Grantham on May 16th and 17th 2018.
